Grapes, raisins or tamarind
Weight- and amount-dependent kidney risk
Documented data setNot every dog becomes ill after a few grapes, but weight, amount and product type are needed before the risk can be assessed safely.
Tartaric-acid content varies. The Merck Veterinary Manual gives more than one grape or raisin per 4.5 kg body weight as a general risk guide; this is not a guaranteed safe threshold. Raisins are more concentrated. Early signs may include vomiting, diarrhoea and lethargy.
