Cooked and raw bones can injure teeth, splinter or damage and obstruct the oesophagus or intestine. WSAVA also warns about very hard chews such as antlers and hooves.

After swallowing, or with gagging, vomiting, pain, blood or inability to pass stool, contact a veterinarian or emergency clinic immediately.
